Hexie Progress

[sew hexie quilt].

I've been playing with this. I'm not sure I love the colors yet, its not quite what I was going for, but then again, its experience.

The giant hexie pattern is from Blueberry Park. I really really love her samples, one in the teal/gray combo, and another in a beautiful coral/aqua colorway. The only modification to the pattern is I didn't do half-hexies sewn back together. I used her Y-seam tutorial and it worked perfectly. MUCH faster than half-hexies I *think.*

I am in love with hexies.

In love.

OK, on to reading. I have been digging into Ann Voskamp's Advent book, The Greatest Gift.  Its good; her writing style is unique, and I find it interesting to read it through my Catholic eyes. Enjoying it very much.

I'll be back later to link with Elizabeth if she posts a needle and thREAD. Otherwise, my dear sewing friends, I will see you after Christmas!

And here is that link.

In Progress

[sew].

This is in progress on the sewing table, a small Christmas wall quilt. Its getting there :). The colors alone revive me.

I still have lots of sewing plans and whether they get accomplished before Christmas or not matters none. Sewing is just a lovely journey in itself and I need the dreams and plans it provides.

As for reading? Its been a busy week. Its show week for three of my kids' Broadway choir group. So the reading has been choppy but I'm still slowly working through Breath of Peace.

What about you? Want to see more? Make sure to check out Elizabeth's needle and thREAD

Sweet & Super-Quick Table Runner - and "fitting it all in" with needle and thREAD

Good morning sewing friends! A warm welcome and a piece of chocolate to those of you popping by from Elizabeth's needle and thREAD! How goes the sewing? Are you fitting it all in? This has been a sub-theme on Elizabeth's blog and in her comm box lately which I can relate to. Been thinking about it. I have to say, sometimes its overwhelming because I have so many ideas, from pinterest quilting boards, children's patterns I want to sew, skirts for myself I want to finish ... and progress is necessarily slow. I say necessarily because it simply cannot be a priority for a homeschooling momma like me, with toddlers and teens and middles and music classes and Young Explorers and Junior Scholars and hockey and showchoir and and and.  You know?
